Sentinel
Cypher
In one line: The information sentinel: wires that reveal and hold whoever crosses them, a camera to watch a site from, cages that block vision and an ultimate that reveals where every enemy is. He always knows what is happening where nobody is looking.
Abilities
Cypher's kit is all about surveillance:
- Trapwire: a nearly invisible wire stretched between two walls. Whoever crosses it is revealed and tethered for a moment; if they do not destroy the wire in time, they are also dazed. It can be destroyed by shooting it;
- Cyber Cage: a cage that, when activated, creates a zone that blocks vision like a smoke. Anyone crossing it makes a recognizable sound;
- Spycam (signature): a camera you place on a surface and can look through. From the camera you can fire a dart that reveals the enemy it hits for a few seconds;
- Neural Theft (ultimate): used on a fallen enemy's body, it reveals the position of every enemy still alive.
Cypher's strength is that his traps work even when he is far away: he can watch a site or a flank while playing somewhere else.
When to pick
Pick Cypher when:
- the team needs information on flanks and entrances: wires tell you when and where someone passes;
- you want a sentinel who can hold a site alone with utility, buying time and information for rotations;
- the map has narrow entrances and corridors, where a well-placed wire is hard to avoid;
- you like preparing rounds: different wire, camera and cage positions depending on the map and the enemy.
Cypher is also an excellent agent on attack: wires on the flank protect the team during the execute and post-plant, and the camera watches the spike.
A less obvious advantage: Cypher frees teammates from watching the flanks. A team that knows its back is watched can put more players on the site or the execute, and that alone changes many rounds.
