Time as a resource: tempo, speeding up, slowing down
In one line: Time is a resource like credits and utility: you spend it and you gain it. Knowing when to speed up and when to slow down, and changing tempo from round to round, makes a team hard to read and hard to stop.
Time is a resource
Every round has a limited time. For the attack it is a cost: it has to get in and plant before it runs out. For the defense it is an ally: every second without a plant brings it closer to winning.
Thinking of time as a resource changes decisions. On attack, every second spent has to buy something: space, information, enemy utility spent. On defense, every second gained with little utility is a good deal. And once the spike is planted, the roles flip: the defense has to move, and time works for the attack.
The glossary calls exactly this tempo: the speed at which a team plays the round.
