Mid-round decisions - 13.1
How to decide in five seconds
In one line: Mid-round you have no time for long thinking: you decide with three things, the information you have, the odds of where the enemy is and the time left. A simple method, repeated every round, lets you decide in a few seconds and almost always well.

Why you need a method
A lot happens at once mid-round: a teammate dies, you hear footsteps, you see an enemy ability, the timer runs down. If you try to think about everything, you freeze; if you think about nothing, you react to the last thing you heard. Both lead to bad decisions.
A method is for exactly this: always looking at the same few things, in the same order, in a few seconds. It is not a magic formula, but it takes the panic away. After a few dozen rounds you will do it without noticing, like checking your mirrors when you drive.
The method in this chapter has three inputs (information, odds, time) and five steps. You do not need to go through them slowly every time: with practice they become a glance and a question.
