Stalling with utility

In one line: Stalling means stopping the attack with utility, without having to win fights. It works on narrow entrances, with staggered abilities coordinated between teammates, and has to be balanced against what you still need for the retake.

What stalling is

To stall means stopping or slowing the attack with utility, so it loses seconds without you having to win a fight. It is the part of delaying that depends on abilities: mollies that block a path, slows, walls, smokes that force a wait, traps that reveal anyone trying to get through.

In the chapter on delaying we looked at the job of holding a site alone; here we look at how to build a stall with utility, including with teammates, and when it is worth it.
