Advanced game sense and mindset - 15.1
Reading enemy patterns over time
In one line: Every team repeats habits: where it defends, where it attacks from, when it buys, how it reacts under pressure. Noticing them round after round tells you sooner what will happen, and lets you punish them when it matters.
Why patterns exist
Teams, and individual players, repeat what has worked. A defender who got an aggressive kill in a main tries again; an attack that won two rounds on a site goes back; a player who feels safe in a corner takes it again. It is not laziness: it is how everyone plays when they have no reason to change.
That means every round gives you information about the rounds that follow. The defender you have seen three times in the same corner is probably there the fourth time too. The attack that always runs the same default will do it again.
Reading patterns is one of the biggest differences between good players and very good ones. The first play the round in front of them well; the second play it knowing what happened in the fifteen rounds before.
