Initiator

Breach

In one line: The initiator who strikes through walls: flashes, stuns and explosive charges that go through walls to set up teammates' entries. He gives little information, but makes the duelists' fights much easier.

Abilities

All of Breach's abilities go through walls:

  • Aftershock: a charge placed on a wall that explodes on the other side, dealing damage in the area. It pushes a defender out of a corner behind a wall;
  • Flashpoint: a flash that goes through the wall and pops on the other side. It blinds whoever looks at it, without you having to expose yourself;
  • Fault Line (signature): you charge and release it to send a concussive blast along a line through the ground and walls, concussing whoever it hits;
  • Rolling Thunder (ultimate): a series of waves in a wide cone, through all terrain, that knock up and concuss the enemies hit.

Breach's kit has a clear theme: taking away the enemy's ability to react at the moment your teammates go in.

When to pick

Pick Breach when:

  • the team has a duelist who goes in first and needs someone to set up their fights: a blinded or concussed defender is almost always a kill;
  • the map has sites with angles behind thin walls and narrow entrances, where abilities that pass through walls reach places others cannot;
  • the team wants to play coordinated executes: Breach is at his best when his utility lands exactly as teammates peek;
  • you need an ultimate that opens a site or wins a retake: Rolling Thunder covers a huge area.

Breach is also a great agent for learning teamwork: his value depends almost entirely on how well you time abilities for others.

One last advantage: Breach's abilities do not require exposing yourself. You can blind, stun and hit a whole site from behind a wall, and stay alive for the rest of the round. For a team, having a living initiator in the post-plant and the retake is worth a lot.
