Initiators and utility as information
In one line: An initiator's utility is worth what it tells the team: where the enemies are, how many, where they are not. Used at the right moment and called out well, it turns a blind entry into a prepared fight.
Information as utility
Most initiators have at least one ability that gathers information: a drone you steer, a dart that reveals, a creature that hunts for enemies, an ability that marks whoever it hits. These abilities kill nobody, but they change everything that follows: an entry where you know where the defenders are is a prepared fight, not a coin flip.
The principle is the one from the chapter on info utility: information is only worth something if it arrives in time and to the right person. For an initiator that means two things: use the ability before the decision, and say straight away what it showed.
