Playing as a team - 14.5
Building a playbook
In one line: A playbook is the list of what the team knows how to do: defaults per map, named executes, prepared answers to enemy strategies. It has to be small, known by everyone and kept up to date.
Read first: Playing in a fixed group
What a playbook is
The playbook is the list of what the team knows how to do together, written down so everyone knows it. It is not a book of strategies copied from the pros: it is the team's memory, built match after match.
What it is for:
- it speeds up decisions: the leader calls a name, and everyone knows what to do;
- it makes the team consistent: the same situations are played the same way, and mistakes become visible and fixable;
- it lets you vary: with more options ready, the team can change when the enemy adapts.
A good playbook is small: a few things, known well by everyone. A huge one that nobody remembers is useless.
