Initiator
KAY/O
In one line: The robot who switches abilities off: a knife that suppresses and reveals whoever is in its area, quick flashes, a grenade that pulses damage and an ultimate that suppresses everything around him and lets teammates pick him back up. The initiator to pick against utility-heavy teams.
Abilities
KAY/O's kit revolves around suppression: stopping enemies from using their abilities.
- ZERO/point (signature): a knife that sticks to the first surface it hits and, after a moment, suppresses enemies in its radius (they cannot use abilities) and reveals them;
- FLASH/drive: a flash grenade. You can throw it so it pops quickly or bounce it on a different arc;
- FRAG/ment: a grenade that sticks to the ground and pulses damage several times in the area. Very strong in the center;
- NULL/cmd (ultimate): KAY/O overloads and sends out pulses that suppress enemies hit around him. If he is downed during the ultimate, he does not die straight away: he stays on the ground and a teammate can pick him back up.
KAY/O is the agent who best answers one specific question: what do you do against a team that wins rounds with utility?
When to pick
Pick KAY/O when:
- the enemy has agents who depend on abilities (sentinels with traps, duelists with dashes and teleports): suppression leaves them with only their gun;
- the team needs information and flashes in a single agent: the knife reveals, the flash sets up the fight;
- the map has sites where the defense relies on utility to hold (traps, turrets, walls): ZERO/point switches them off before the entry;
- you want an ultimate that is useful in executes and retakes: NULL/cmd suppresses the enemy and gives the team extra margin.
KAY/O is also a flexible agent: he can play as a classic initiator, setting up the entry, or go in first behind his own flash.
There is also a less obvious advantage: an enemy who knows they can be suppressed plays differently. After KAY/O's knife has switched off their abilities a couple of times, they tend to use them earlier or hold them, and either way they lose part of their value.
