Initiator

Gekko

In one line: The creature initiator: a buddy that goes and stuns the first enemy and can even plant or defuse for him, a creature that blinds from above, a grenade that multiplies and an ultimate that detains whoever it touches. His creatures can be reclaimed and reused.

Abilities

Gekko fights with his creatures, and almost all of them can be reclaimed after use:

  • Wingman: a creature that moves forward and seeks out enemies; when it sees one, it fires a blast that concusses them. With secondary fire you can send it to plant the spike (if you are carrying it) or to defuse it;
  • Dizzy: flies forward and, after a moment, fires plasma shots that blind enemies in her line of sight;
  • Mosh Pit: a grenade that, on hitting the ground, duplicates across a wide area and then explodes, dealing heavy damage. It cannot be reclaimed;
  • Thrash (ultimate): a creature you steer into enemy territory; when you make it lunge, it explodes and detains nearby enemies.

After use, Wingman, Dizzy and Thrash turn into globules on the ground: if you pick them up, after a short recharge you can use them again (Thrash only once).

When to pick

Pick Gekko when:

  • you want an initiator who is easy to learn: the creatures do much of the work on their own, with no complicated lineups;
  • the team needs flashes and stuns for the entry, but also someone who can plant or defuse without exposing themselves;
  • you play a lot of post-plants and retakes: Wingman planting or defusing while you cover is an advantage no other agent has;
  • the map has angles and entrances where a creature hunting the first enemy reveals and sets up the fight.

Gekko is a great agent for solo queue players who want an initiator who is useful even without much coordination: his creatures find enemies on their own.

Another advantage of Gekko is utility economy: by reclaiming globules, a single purchased ability can be used twice in the same round. In long rounds with several fights, that means more flashes and stuns than other initiators without spending more.
