Initiator
Fade
In one line: The nightmare initiator: an eye that reveals whoever sees it, creatures that hunt enemies and blind them, a knot that holds them in place and an ultimate that marks everyone it touches. She finds enemies and sets them up for her teammates' fights.
Abilities
Fade's kit is for finding enemies and making them vulnerable:
- Haunt (signature): an eye you throw that, when it drops, reveals enemies in its line of sight. It can be destroyed; revealed enemies also leave a trail showing where they are heading;
- Prowler: a creature that runs forward and hunts enemies it meets; you can steer it by holding the key. If it reaches an enemy, it nearsights them. It can be destroyed;
- Seize: a knot that, where it bursts, tethers enemies in the area, stopping them from leaving for a moment, and deafens and weakens them (health decay);
- Nightfall (ultimate): a wave that passes through walls and marks every enemy it touches, deafening and weakening them for a while.
Fade's theme is information that follows the enemy: whoever is revealed or marked can no longer hide.
When to pick
Pick Fade when:
- the team needs information and someone to set up fights: Haunt finds enemies, Prowler blinds them, Seize holds them;
- the map has closed sites with many angles, where a well-thrown eye reveals the most hidden positions;
- the team plays many retakes: Fade is one of the best initiators for retaking a site, because she finds whoever is hiding and makes them vulnerable;
- you want an ultimate useful in every phase: Nightfall gives information and weakens everyone it touches.
Compared to other info initiators, Fade has the advantage of also having abilities that stop enemies reacting (Prowler's nearsight, Seize's knot).
Fade is also a good pick for players who want an initiator less tied to lineups: the eye is thrown with a simple arc and the creature is steered, so she pays off even without hours of preparation on each map. Her value grows with knowledge of the angles where enemies hide.
