Advanced game sense and mindset - 15.5
Tilt, consistency, routines before and after the match
In one line: Tilt is when emotions take the place of decisions. You prevent it with a routine before the match, interrupt it with a simple gesture during the match, and stop it with a clear rule on when to quit playing.
What tilt is
Tilt is the state where emotions (anger, frustration, hurry) take the place of decisions. A tilted player makes choices they would not make with a cool head: pointless peeks, hasty rotations, duels taken "to get even", harsh words to teammates. And the more they lose, the more nervous they get, the more they lose.
Tilt is not a matter of character: it happens to everyone, pros included. The difference is recognizing it early and having tools to interrupt it.
The most common signs:
- hurry: you want the round to be over, you go in before the time;
- anger at a teammate, the enemy or the game;
- risky decisions, repeated, that you know are wrong;
- thinking about the previous round while playing the new one.
