Defense - 8.1
Holding a site
In one line: Holding a site does not mean killing everyone who walks in: it means wasting the attack's time, giving information and staying alive until your team can help. Sometimes the right call is to give the site up and retake it.
The job of holding a site
When you play a site on defense, your job is not "kill whoever comes in". It is something more precise: waste the attack's time, tell your team what is happening and stay alive until the others can help.
It sounds like a matter of words, but it changes everything. A defender who thinks about kills peeks as soon as they hear something, chases, takes pointless fights. A defender who thinks about time uses utility to slow things down, calls information, takes the fight only when it favors them and falls back when it does not.
Remember how defense wins: if the attack does not plant within 100 seconds, the round is yours. Every second the attack spends stuck in front of your site is one second less for them and one more for the teammates on their way.
