Attack - 9.3
Lurking
In one line: A lurker plays away from the team to gather information, cut off rotations and hit from behind. It is extremely useful when its timing is tied to the team's; it is just one player fewer when it wanders the map on its own.
What lurking is
To lurk means playing away from the rest of the team, usually on the opposite side from where the execute will go, quietly. The lurker is not trying to win the round alone: they are trying to make it easier for the team in three ways:
- gathering information on a part of the map where the rest of the team is not;
- cutting off rotations: when the defense moves towards the execute, the lurker hits it from behind;
- keeping pressure on two fronts: a site that hears an attacker nearby cannot empty completely.
It is a role that demands patience, listening and an excellent sense of timing.
