Damage and range
The Shorty costs 300 credits, holds 2 shells and fires pellets like a shotgun. At very close range one well-placed shot kills or nearly kills; a few meters further, damage collapses, and beyond that it is practically useless. Patch 12.09 dropped its fire rate to 3 shots per second and worsened its accuracy on the move: use it standing still, or nearly.
When to buy it
When you have a precise plan to fight at point-blank range: a tight corner behind a door, an unusual spot near a site entrance, an eco round where you wait for enemies in a closed space. It is also a cheap add-on for Marshal or Operator players who want something for close fights.
When not to
Anywhere at mid or long range, or when you need to move a lot: it only has two shells, and if you miss them you are defenseless.
What it beats and what beats it
Strong against anyone walking into a tight corner without checking it. Very weak against anyone who sees you from range and against players who clear corners with utility before entering.
How to use it
- Pick your position in advance: the Shorty only works if the enemy comes within a few steps.
- Shoot standing still: since 12.09 the pellets spread a lot on the move.
- After the first shot, reload as soon as you can: with two shells there is no margin.
- Change spots every round: a Shorty corner works once.
