Abilities
Clove's kit mixes smokes and aggression:
- Ruse (signature): you place smokes at range, choosing the spots from an overhead view. The twist is that you can use them even after dying, but only near where you died;
- Meddle: a fragment you throw that, after a moment, bursts and applies decay to enemies in the area (they lose health that then slowly comes back);
- Pick-Me-Up: after killing or helping kill an enemy, you can absorb their energy to gain speed and temporary health;
- Not Dead Yet (ultimate): when you die, you can come back to life for a short time. If you do not get a kill or a damaging assist in that window, you die again.
Clove is the only controller who keeps smoking from the grave: even if they fall first in an entry, the team does not lose their smokes.
When to pick
Pick Clove when:
- you want a controller who fights on the front line: Clove can go in with the duelists, because even if they die their smokes remain available;
- the team needs a controller and a second aggressive player at the same time;
- you like a flexible controller: long-range smokes can be placed anywhere, and Meddle and Pick-Me-Up make you dangerous in fights;
- you play solo queue with teammates who go in early: Clove can follow them and cover them with smokes even after a lost fight.
Not Dead Yet turns death into a second chance: in important rounds it can be worth an extra player.
There is a team advantage too: a controller who dies early usually leaves teammates without smokes for the rest of the round. With Clove that does not happen, and the team can afford a braver controller who takes space instead of always staying behind.
