Brimstone

In one line: The easiest controller to learn: smokes called in from the map, a long-range molly, a beacon that speeds up teammates' firing and an ultimate that burns a whole area. The ideal starting point for anyone learning to smoke.

Abilities

Brimstone's kit is simple and direct:

  • Sky Smoke (signature): you open the tactical map and choose where the smokes fall; once confirmed, they all arrive together. You do not need to see the spot or know lineups: you just point to it on the map, within a certain distance of where you are;
  • Incendiary: a grenade launcher that fires a molly at range. It creates a burning area that damages anyone crossing or staying in it;
  • Stim Beacon: a beacon you toss in front of you that gives nearby players an effect that speeds up their fire rate. Useful before an entry or a retake;
  • Orbital Strike (ultimate): from the tactical map you pick a spot, and a beam from the sky burns the area for a long time, dealing heavy damage to anyone who stays inside.

His strength is simplicity: the smokes land where you want, together, with no lineups.

When to pick

Pick Brimstone when:

  • you are learning the controller role: map-called smokes let you focus on when and where to smoke, without worrying about how to throw them;
  • the team wants fast, coordinated executes: all the smokes arrive at the same moment, and it is easy to sync them with the entry;
  • the map has compact sites that a few well-placed smokes can cover;
  • you want an agent who is strong in the post-plant: the molly and the ultimate, fired from range, make defusing very hard.

Brimstone is also a great pick for solo queue players who notice nobody wants to play controller: he is easy to play well straight away, and the team needs one.
