Weapons, armor and economy - 6.8
Reading the enemy economy
In one line: Knowing what the enemy can afford tells you which guns you will face, what range to fight at and how they will play the round. You read it from the scoreboard and from the round history, and it changes the way you play.
Why it matters
Every round starts with a question few players ask: what will the enemy be playing with? An enemy with a rifle and heavy armor and one with a Sheriff and no armor are fought differently. It changes the ranges you want to fight at, the risks you can take and even how the enemy will move: a team on an eco often looks for a surprise, a team on a full buy plays its normal plan.
Reading the enemy economy lets you choose your fights before you even see them. It is one of the clearest differences between mid-ranked and high-ranked players: the former play every round the same way, the latter adapt positions and utility to what the enemy can have in hand.
